In order to volunteer or be employed with CEF, you’ll need to have certain clearances.
You need these clearances if:
You are above the age of 18 and are an employee or volunteer.
You are above the age of 14 and are a paid employee of CEF.
You do not need these clearances if:
You are a volunteer or CEF Volunteer Leader under the age of 18.
We recommend completing these tasks 3-4 weeks before you need to give them to CEF. That way, the state has time to complete your checks and clearances. If you need to schedule a fingerprinting appointment, this can also take time, as sometimes they book up quickly.
You’ll need to be on a computer to complete this process, so if you are on a phone or tablet, don’t go any further until you switch over to a computer.
Step 1 – Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
Things to Know:
Be sure to create an Individual Account and save your login information.
Clearances may take up to two weeks to receive, and will be received by mail or email, depending on your selection.
Step 2 – State Police Criminal Record Check
Things to know:
If you are a volunteer, you’ll be clicking the yellow “New Record Check” button once on the patch website.
If you are an employee, you’ll be clicking the gray “Submit a New Record Check” button once on the patch website.
Once completed, you can only click on the link to print your certificate once, so be sure to be on a computer where you can print or save the certificate before you start.
Save as a PDF or print out the certificate, as well as the receipt, immediately after opening.
Save as a PDF or Print out the complete certificate with the state seal in the background.
Step 3 – Act 31 Training (3 Hour Online Course) – Adult or requested by CEF Staff only
Things to Know:
This is a 3 hour online course, so please allow yourself this amount of time to complete it.
You do not need to complete it all at once! It will save your progress.
The course cannot be taken on a mobile device, such as phones, Ipads, or tablets.
You will be able to log in after you complete the course and reprint the certificate if you need to, but we still suggest you save as a PDF or print out the certificate as soon as it appears.
Step 4 – Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Background Check
This step is fingerprinting. It is required for all paid employees, but volunteers who have lived in the state of PA for at least 10 continuous years may sign the enclosed disclosure statement instead and do not have to complete the fingerprinting clearance.
Things to know:
• If you are volunteering with CEF, this is your service code: 1KG6ZJ
• If you are being paid by CEF, this is your service code: 1KG756
• You may choose to make an appointment. Just click “Schedule or Manage Appointment” and fill out all required information.
• Your clearance will be received by mail or email, depending on your selection.
• If you choose to receive it in email form, you can only click on the link to print once, so be sure to be on a computer where you can print or save the certificate.
• Save as a PDF or print out the form immediately after opening.
• The link above to complete the clearance is very straight forward, though some people do get confused after selecting their state as to which “Enrollment Service” to then choose. The answer is Digital Fingerprinting.

Then What?
Awesome, you completed your clearances! Now how do you get them to us?
You can physically print and mail your clearances to us at:
Child Evangelism Fellowship of Bucks County
PO Box 437
Souderton, PA 18964
You can also email your clearances to cefbucksmont@gmail.com.
The easiest way to do this whole process is to save your files to PDF as you obtain your clearances instead of physically printing them. That way you can have them saved to your computer (for yourself for later use) and you can email them to us instead of mail them. Plus, many of these clearances are given to you through a one time link. If you print your form and lose it, you will need to do everything all over again.
Have questions or need computer access?
If you still have questions, that’s ok! Just contact us and we can help out. We also know that this process is very computer heavy, from printing out forms, to going onto different websites, to taking a 3 hour course that can only be taken on a computer. If you are a leader and know a student who does not have computer access at home, please be mindful and do your best to offer them assistance or direction to public spaces that offer the necessary resources, like a library or even possibly your church! If you yourself, leader or student alike, need assistance with access to a computer to complete your clearances, or helping someone with this, please reach out to us at CEF and let us know!
