No. Campers always stay on campus. We do have special events each week which keep things interesting (see more under “What is Camp Good News“).
There is not a pool on campus, but we will be doing water games throughout the summer to keep cool. Every year there is a water week where we will get wet everyday! Check the parent newsletter and communication whiteboard each day to know whether or not your child will need a bathing suit, towel, or change of clothes.
When thunder/lightning occurs we will text you that we need you to pick up your child. If you do not respond to the text within 10 minutes, we will call to confirm that you are on your way! If we cannot reach you, we will contact the emergency contacts listed on your child’s registration form.
We apologize that this may be inconvenient for your schedule. Since our camp is completely outdoors, we must do this to keep the children safe!
We have large, 5-gallon dispensers of water available for the children at all times throughout the day. We do ask that you send your child with a reusable water bottle so that they can refill as many times as needed.
No, camper drop-offs and pick-ups will not be staggered. We are asking all parents to pick-up and drop-off at the registration table by the parking area. There will be counselors there to bring your child to the pavilion and help them get settled in at camp.
Yes! All surfaces will be sanitized and cleaned by staff after hours.
The decision to wear a mask is up to each individual (staff and campers). However, if you would feel more comfortable to have your child wear a mask, that is totally fine! Any child wearing a mask will be watched by counselors for any signs of overheating.
There are 3 hand washing stations (1 in our kitchen, 1 outdoor sink, and 1 at the bathrooms). We require children to wash their hands before lunchtime, before snack time, and any time after using the bathroom. We also often ask them to wash their hands after game time or craft time due to messes that may happen. 🙂
What is Camp Good News?
Camp Good News is a fun, action packed day camp for kids ages 5-12! Our Telford campus has lots planned for this summer, with new themes every week, fun crafts and games, and so much more!
Each morning, kids play silly get-to-know-you games so all the campers are staying connected and making friends! Next up is exciting motion songs, an engaging activity that makes learning Bible verses fun, and an action packed Bible story followed by a small group time where the kids can ask questions and grow in their relationship with Jesus, led by one of our trained student-counselors.
Then comes everyone’s favorite time of day – Free time! During free time, campers can play Ga-Ga, make friendship bracelets, play on the playground, and more! Each child will need to bring a reusable water-bottle (that they can refill at anytime) and packed lunch. If they like, they can also bring some spare change for the Snack Stand! (Snacks range from $.25 to $2).
Kids are split up into 4 groups throughout the day, so they can do activities that are geared more towards their respective ages. These activities include game, craft and Bible Story. The kids also listen to a missionary story near the end of the day.
