No.  Campers always stay on campus at Crossing Community Church.  We do have special events each week which keep things interesting (see more under “What is Camp Good News“).

There is not a pool on campus, but we will be doing water games throughout the summer to keep cool.  Every year there is a water week where we will get wet everyday!  Check the parent newsletter and communication whiteboard each day to know whether or not your child will need a bathing suit, towel, or change of clothes.

We have large, 5-gallon dispensers of water available for the children at all times throughout the day. We do ask that you send your child with a reusable water bottle so that they can refill as many times as needed.

Registration will open in 2025!No, camper drop-offs and pick-ups will not be staggered. We are asking all parents to pick-up and drop-off from outside. There will be a counselor to bring your child to and from East Wing.

Yes! All surfaces will be sanitized and cleaned by staff after hours.

The decision to wear a mask is up to each individual (staff and campers). However, if you would feel more comfortable to have your child wear a mask, that is totally fine! Any child wearing a mask will be watched by counselors for any signs of overheating.

There are 3 hand washing stations (1 in our kitchen, 2 at the bathrooms). We require children to wash their hands before lunchtime, before snack time, and any time after using the bathroom. We also often ask them to wash their hands after game time or craft time due to messes that may happen. 🙂

What is Camp Good News?

Camp Good News is a fun, action packed day camp for kids ages 5-12! Our Newtown campus has lots planned for this summer, with new themes every week, guest speakers, fun crafts, and so much more!

Each morning, kids can spend time at any of the Morning Learning Centers to color, read a book related to the theme of the week, play a game, or do a creative activity! We also play silly get-to-know-you games in the mornings so all the campers are staying connected and making friends! Next up is exciting motion songs, an engaging activity that makes learning Bible verses fun, and an action packed Bible story followed by a small group time where the kids can ask questions and grow in their relationship with Jesus, led by one of our trained student-counselors.

Then comes everyone’s favorite time of day – Free time! During free time, campers can play Ga-Ga, Four Square, Nine Square, make friendship bracelets, play on the playground, and more! Afterwards, the kids all come back into the air conditioning for lunch. Each child will need to bring a reusable water-bottle (that they can refill at anytime) and packed lunch. If they like, they can also bring some spare change for the Snack Shack! (Snacks range from 10-75 cents).

Kids are split up into 4 groups throughout the day, so they can do activities that are geared more towards their respective ages. These activities include game, craft, and special event. The special event varies and is based on the weeks theme! From water gun fights, to slip-n-slides, a giant maze in the auditorium, popcorn and a movie, and more! Once a week, our special event is a guest speaker! We have had an expert talk about camping, hiking, and survival during “Wilderness Week”, a police officer explain his job and let the kids go through his cop car during “Superhero Week”, and so much more!  After the days special event, the campers all gather in a nice air conditioned room to have a snack and listen to a story about a missionary to wrap up the day!
